Florence

Florence is an ancient city and centuries of history are recorded in the streets and buildings. Passengers arriving at the SITA bus station are a ten minute walk away from the church of Santa Maria Novella, with its distinctive façade completed by architect Leon Alberti in 1470. The Piazza del Duomo, deemed to be the heart of Florence, is 500 metres away. Here, visitors can see the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with the red brickwork dome that Fillipo Brunelleschi designed and built in 1436. The Uffizi Gallery is filled with art treasures, the legacy of the many painters and sculptors that lived in Florence during the Italian Renaissance. A replica of Michelangelo's statue of David stands outside the Palazzo Vecchio, itself a luxurious town house and gallery, while visitors can see the original statue in the Galleria del'Accademia on Ricasoli Street.
