Juan Mari Arzak has consistently been named as one of the best michelin chefs in the world. Considered as the master of the new Basque cuisine movement, Arzak is a must visit for food connoisseurs. With a distinct minimalist interior, it is a perfect surrounding for diners to snap photos of their meal, which is no surprise with such artistic creations. Despite the modern interior, the building itself has been in the family since 1897. Arzak is childish by nature, sparking fun in his dishes and radiating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. A project by Bruno Ceretto, Michelin 3 star restaurant Piazzo Duomo pushes the boundaries of traditional Italian cooking, mixing the popular cuisine with modern techniques. French and Japanese styles are also noticeable in head chef Enrico Crippa’s creations from his experience working in these countries. With ingredients sourced straight from the restaurant’s vegetable garden, meals are dependent on season and availability, meaning no two experiences are the same. Despite this challenge, diners are treated with delicate and gorgeous creations that could be mistaken for contemporary works of art. Most diners spend around 3 hours at Piazza Duomo – some even longer as the establishment accommodates rooms for guests. For lovers of Italian food, it is worth spending some time in the Piedmont region as it is known especially for its truffles and wine production.

Alles Anders Als Alle Andere – Everything Different from All the Others, is the motto of the Reitbauer family and have illustrated that with Steirereck Restaurant. With their style described as modern Austrian, gourmet dishes are inspired from the Styrian area where the Reitbauers originate. Staying true to authenticity, many ingredients are sourced from the Styrian area as well. Vienna is known for its fine and classical taste. So it is appropriate that one of the best Michelin star restaurants Europe is situated within the city’s Stadtpark, on the banks of the Wien river.

Situated in the centre of Prague at the Raddison Blu Hotel, Alcron is one of the top fine dining restaurants city. With an intimate space seating only 24 guests, there is a strong art deco presence and is almost like walking back in time to a more decadent period – Which is interesting to note as the restaurant has been around since the early 1930’s. Serving contemporary European food, Alcron has an interesting concept of allowing guests to create their menu between 3-7 courses, or try a number of starters to determine their main dish.

Geert Van Heecke has been stated as a leader of Belgian cuisine and a visit to one of his establishments is a must. De Karmeliet holding three Michelin stars balances fine dining in an elegant yet relaxed setting perfectly. Best to make your reservation at one of the best restaurants in Belgium now as De Karmeliet plans to close on the 1st October with Van Heecke and his wife planning on opening a smaller project in the near future. If you don’t make it to the legendary De Karmeliert in time but want to experience Geert Van Heecke’s food, a table at his other establishment De Refter, is also worth a visit.

Bringing a British ‘open mindedness’ to the kitchen and dining area, the team ensures a warm atmosphere for guests. Making sure that all details to one’s dining experience is connected and of a high class is also of importance here.
