What do I need to know about travelling on National Express buses?

    No, one child under 3 years old may travel for free when accompanied by a paying passenger 16+ years old. Any additional children under the age of 16 must purchase a child's ticket. Passengers under the age of 16 travelling on a child's ticket must be able to produce an official piece of identification bearing their photograph and date of birth.

Both National Express Coaches and Megabus operate direct buses from Manchester to Liverpool, with journey times of approximately one hour. There are regular departures throughout the day, from just after midnight until late evening, seven days a week.

Taking the Bus from Manchester

National Express Buses from Manchester to Liverpool depart from the Chorlton Street Coach Station, which is located just ten minute's walk from Manchester City Centre and close to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. Megabus departures are from the Shudehill Interchange, which is slightly further out and linked by local buses and the Metrolink Tram system. Taxis are available at both locations.
