Berlin is home to two airports, the larger international Tegel Airport and the smaller Schonefeld Airport. Direct flights to Berlin Tegel are available from all major European cities as well as New York, Tel Aviv and Dubai. Those flying from Johannesburg, New Zealand, Delhi or Sydney will need to transfer in the UAE, Moscow or Istanbul. Passengers travelling from other major US cities or Toronto can transfer in London, Paris or Dublin. Major airlines serving Berlin include Air Berlin, Lufthansa, Emirates, British Airways and United Airlines. Berlin Tegel is found to the north west of the city which can be reached via Jet Express Bus, or via local buses that join up with the U-Bahn train network. Schonefeld Airport is found to the south east of Berlin and from here passengers can reach the city centre by Express Bus or via local buses which also join up with the U-Bahn train network. Taxis are also available 24 hours a day from both airports.

The Airport Express (regional train lines RE7 and RB14) takes 28 minutes from the main railway station [Hauptbahnhof] to Schönefeld airport, every 30 minutes. Two suburban lines link the airport station to the eastern and southern parts of the city (S9 to Ostkreuz, S45 to Südkreuz).
